Reading For Myself

My question was, "What do I need to know in order to reach my goals?". I used the Ancestral Path Tarot designed Julie Cuccia-Watts. I drew 3 cards and read them like a book left to right.
1. Temperance. This card tells me that I need to maintain balance in my life. This balance is between my interests work-wise and my family obligations.
2. Four of Sacred Circles. I need to establish a sacred space when I am reading Tarot. This card expresses my need for personal. Since I live with husband and pets in a very small area this space needs to be a mind set. Also a need for doing readings in public places.
3. Prince of Staves. This card represents my goal. Renewed passion for life and my goals. A better relationship with my family.
A good reading. Points out what I need to do to succeed.

Tra la la we're back in the desert again.
This season I've taken up aerobics. Went to my second session this morning.
I am so sore. Obviously need the exercise.

I wrote the above last week. Didn't post when I thought it did. Still learning to post from my Blackberry.
Sunday my HP laptop died. Could have been better timing. Sigh... Bought a new one for a quarter of the price of the old one and it does more. Of course it is so new that it won't install my bb desktop software. Called Verizon tech to find this out. Can't dial up until I solve thus problem. Frustrating.
The newsletter I edit here in the dusty desert is due out next Tuesday. Gotta get to work on it. Conputer problems are an extra hassle right now.

I'm still trying to start up my Tarot reading business. Computer problems are not helping.

What are you going to be for Halloween this year? Are you going to wear coordinating costumes with a friend or partner? Did you buy something pre-fab or make it yourself?

This Halloween we hope to be in Reno, NV. I'll be wearing black jeans and a T-shirt that says, "This my Halloween costume." I'll also be wearing a big smile.

Brrrrrrrrr... Been cold in the Cascades. At least it is cold to an old desert dweller like me. After spending the summer in the Truckee, CA area camp hosting at a campground named Boca Rest. Plenty of off hwy vehicles, jet skis, motor boats, and other types of partyers. Happily headed for Oregon to visit my parents, glad to leave the commotion. Now we're headed back to Reno to pick up our VW bug from where ir hs been getting repaired. Then... Off to the desert for the winter.

Camp Hosting @ Truckee, CA

This summer Ol' Freek & I are camp hosting again. As much as we like Yuma, 117 degrees in the summer is hot! Hot! Hot! This summer we are at Boca Reservoir. I get to meet lots of people, most from Truckee, CA or Reno, NV which is near by. We collect the money for the campsites and keep the place clean. The weather has been cooler than normal, I am told. Of course, 4th of July weekend was very busy. Both of our campgrounds were full. One lies along the Little Truckee River, the other is at the reservoir. Today is our day off.

Almost Time to Leave

It's almost time to leave the dusty desert.  Ol' Freek and I put our storage trailer into storage on Monday.  I spent 2 days deciding what to keep with us for the summer.  We'll be camp hosting near Truckee, CA.  I've never been there.  It's on Boca Resevoir.  I kept all my beading supplies.  I am beading a spread cloth for my tarot reading.  I have also been beading the zodiac signs onto bags that I hope will sell over the internet on my website.

I spent a large part of this morning updating my site.  I am adding a forum where people can post their dreams for discussion.  Dreams are the myths of the individual.  They can help people find the answers to questions which may seem unanswerable in their waking life.  They can give warning for the future.  They can aid development in one's psyche.  Last night I dreamed I was living a story like a Monty Python sort of story. Very weird.  Very colorful.  It was quite an adventure.

I am hoping to be able to keep up with my blogging during the summer.  May be some late nights.

Windy Again

It has been a calmer winter season here in the desert this year.  However; the wind started up last night and all day today it has be blowing the sand around.  I got to do a live reading today.  It was great to be able to read for someone who is actually sitting across from me.  After the reading we talked about numerous things, language, astrology, dogs, the RV life.

This RV lifestyle is very different.  For us full-timers the challenge is to be able to have IDs and addresses, also be able to register our vehicles.  We don't live in a place where there is a physical address.  We have a PO Box.  We don't have a home phone.  We have cell phones.  Wherever our 5th wheel is, is where we live.  Our home is wherever we are.  I wouldn't trade my lifestyle for anything.  The only thing that will make it better is for my website to become known and popular.

I still have some work to do on my website.  I plan to set up a forum and maybe a blog too.  The forum will be aimed at sharing and discussing dreams.  Dreams are fascinating.  They make up the mythology of the individual.  The illuminate our spiritual paths.  They guide us.  They can help us solve problems or find the answers to puzzles.  The rich imagery can have a profound effect on one's life.

Weird Dreams in the Desert Heat

It's been in the low 90s lately.  Finally it is supposed to cool down.  Around here that means that it's going to get windy.  I'll be sleepin' good if it does cool down.  It has been a warmer winter season than last season.  Last season the wind blew a lot and it was very cold when I'd head for work at the gas station.  Don't miss that.  I've been working on my website and doing readings for friends here in Senator Wash.  More and more are getting interested.  Finally.  I love doing readings.  It always amazes me the way the cards turn up.  I feel more connected to the universe when I read regularly.  I also feel that I am helping people.  It's a good feeling.

Last night my dog Lulu who is big and bearlike, appeared as my protector again in a dream.  She seemed to merge into the personality of my husband.  She was as large and a brown bear and male.  He carred my on my back and when I asked if I was too heavy to carry, he gave me the same look my husband gives to me when he thinks I'm asking a silly question.  Lulu is the first dog that has appeared regularly in my dreams.  I have dreamed of bears before too.  She has protected me from them.  Not sure at this point why bears are dangerous in my dreams because in my waking world bears are great.  I'm careful when around them, but not generally afraid.  Nor do I feel the need to be protected from them. Actually, in my dreams, it is Lulu who finds them dangerous.  She doesn't care for them in waking life either.  Generally, bears do not like dogs.  They warn you about bears and dogs in Yellowstone National Park.  I've been trying harder to keep up with my dream journal.  It is hard to remember my dreams sometimes because I always have to walk our two dogs in the morning before I can sit down and write.  The effort helps my memory though.  It has been getting a little easier to remember my dreams every day.

Soon we will be leaving the desert and heading for SE Oregon to visit my mom and dad who are now in their 80s.  It has been two years now and I miss them very much.  My mom is a sculpter and has sculpted and statue of my dog Lulu.  She plans to give it to me when I get there.  She and dad have a German Shepherd named Timmy.  He weighs 140 lbs.  Actually makes my 100 lb Lulu seem small.  Timmy is a giant puppy.  He rides around in the back of my parents truck.  Mom tells me that when she comes out of the store or wherever she has gone and crowd of people can be found standing around the truck playing with him.  If she doesn't take him with her into town, people complain about not seeing him.  He's a funny goofy dog.

It's Finished!!!!

It's finished.  The last Boondocker's Chatter of this 08/09 winter season.  Ol' Freek has been proof reading it for me.  Tomorrow I will proof read it too.  Then I'll do the final fix and print.  Some friends of ours are leaving for Oregon on Monday.  I was asked, "Are you enjoying it?"  I really do you know.  I love encouraging people to write.  I love reading what they have to say.  I've been including a one card Tarot reading each issue.  Plus, I write some of the articles.

Now I can focus on marketing my website.  I talked to my sister in Washington State this morning and she asked me to send her some of my business cards.  She has friends that often have their cards read.  I get to do a reading for her also.  I have been learning so much.  I just love it.

I'm still catching up on all the news here in LIveJournal.  My computer downloads so slowly sometimes.  That's dial-up for ya.  It is supposed to be hot again next week.  It's only been in the high 70s low 80s lately.  Right about the time it gets too hot, we'll be heading for Truckee, CA and a higher elevation.

Time for an update

Green's a great color for a new beginning.  I've had a very busy year as I am sure you all have.  Ol' Freek and I spent the summer here in Yuma.  The hottest day was 117 degrees F.  I cashiered at a gas station in an area called the Foothills where the moneyed people tend to live.  Evening and weekends.  I managed to miss out on most of the happening Yuma had to offer.

Yuma's an interesting place in the summer.  It is still in the high 90's at 10 o'clock at night.  Familys take their children and do their shopping at this time.  People come from California to go boating on the Colorado River.  The locals fish the canals for catfish.  Both casinos and the fair grounds featured spectacular fireworks on the eve of the 4th of July.  i got off work at 8pm and by 9, Ol' Freek and I were watching a fire start at the casino nearest to the RV park we stayed at for the summer.

We had to stay at an RV park for the summer because we needed the electricity to power our air conditioning.  The electric bill was nearly as high as our rent.  Our park was right on the river and our two dogs, Lulu and Finbar got to swim every day.  Lulu started out at 107 lbs and came down to 94 lbs.  She looks great.  She is a large dog, as you can imagine, and prone to weight.  We discovered that Finbar like to swim under water when something at the bottom interests him.  I would have had more fun if I didn't have to work.  I know most of us could say that.

We also spent time seeing the new movies that came out this past summer.  The first we saw was 10,000 Years BC.  Was a let down, but Ironman was great as were most of the others we saw.  We haven't gone to the movies very much since we moved into our RV in Dec. 2003, so it was a change of pace.  We even got a TV.  The one we had all summer didn't work too well, but we got a new digital one last October that works great.  Now I watch TV almost every night.

At the end of October we moved back out to the BLM long term visitor area.  I started up a tarot website called orbweavertarotanddreamweb.com (yeah I know the name is long but it won't seem long once it is a favorite).  It's great to be tarot reading and studying dream imagery again.  I plan to set up a forum for discussing dreams on my site.  There is so much people can learn from one another.  If you check out my site, please let me know what you think.  I plan to be constantly improving it.

Ahhhhh, it's great to be back.

Lulu @ Delta
Here is Finbar on the night we brought him home.  He is 12 weeks old here. It was last September.

Here Lulu and Finbar play in the water by Senator Wash, the north shore. They both love to swim. It looks like she's going to eat him up but he is too fast for her. We took this and the next pic last November.
Now they are having fun swimming in the Colorado River. I'll post some recent pics as soon as I take them. I've been slackin'. When I got home from work tonight, Finny was so excited that he bit a mouthful of my hair. He can be a very wild boy. When we stop at traffic lights, he flirts with the people in the other cars. People will wave at him. He loves it.

Old Freek and I just moved to an RV park that is right on the Colorado River. Every day we walk our dogs down to the boat dock so they can swim.  I don't remember if I mentioned it but we got a puppy last September.  He's a wire fox terrier named Finbar. Old Freek says the name means "fine whiskey served here." Finny was supposed to be Old Freek's puppy because Lulu is mine.  Both dogs are our kids though.  When Finny gets in trouble, I'm the person he runs to.  Old Freek says, "Stop coddling him." I can't help it though. He's the baby. He'll be 10 months old on April 19th. He's really smart like Lulu is, but much more energetic. He sleeps in our bed every night. Lulu would sleep with us too, but a 100 pound dog is a bed hog. Finny likes to sleep between Old Freek and I. I'll post a pic of him when I have more time.

I am still searching for a full time job. The winter season is the busy season here in they Yuma area because it gets so hot in the summer up to 120 degrees Farenheight. I still have been seeing job openings. I hope to find a job to stay at for a while. I would like to earn enough to buy a larger 5th wheel with pullouts to give us more space. As it is we will be buying a cargo trailer for storage. It will be nice to move some stuff out of this small 5th wheel to have more room. We are planning to buy a TV and I am excited. We haven't had a TV since 2003 and it is cheap entertainment.  Sometimes I am too tired to read. Anyway, we are progressing. I've been given' more hours at the gas station, so I'll be bringing home a little more money each month (and I do mean little). The job search goes on.

About Time

  • Mar. 9th, 2008 at 7:36 PM
Beware of the Thing
Spring has sprung here in the dusty desert near Yuma, AZ.  The Old Freek and I have pretty much decided to stay in this area for awhile.  I've been working parttime as a gas station attendant.  See what a college education can get ya?  Fuel prices are so high that we worry that if we head back to Oregon this summer, we will be stuck there year round.  Our little 5th wheel just isn't winter ready.  I also don't want to miss out on writing my newletter down here next winter season.

The last newsletter is coming out this week, on the 15th and people here are starting to leave the area.  The season offically ends on April 15th, but we will probably move to an RV park on the 1st.  There is a nice inexpensive one right on the Colorado River that we like.  I'm looking around for a fulltime job with benefits in Yuma.  While I got my parttime job fairly fast, the fulltime position has been more difficult.  Possibly because Old Freek and I have been doing so much traveling in the past few years.  Perhaps 50 plus is too old.  Who knows.  I'll keep tryin'.  At least I'm gettin' a post in.  Woo Hoo!

Well I'm back in the CA desert near Yuma, AZ for another winter season. I just couldn't keep up while in Oregon.  I'm still dialing up using my cellphone which means I have to do it either on the weekends or after 9pm weekdays. I worked my butt off up there.  At the beginning of the season I cleaned 35 pit toilets per day.  I also emptied the garbage cans and collected the money at the various campgrounds in my charge. Phew!!! Old Freek and I had a wonderful summer, both because of and in spite of all the work.  It is beautiful in the western Cascade Mt Range.  We camped around 40 miles east of Eugene, OR. If we don't go back there next summer, we will be going to WA.  Camp hosting is a total blast! Of course I was too tired to update my log. Now it's catch-up time.

We ran off the bears, but saw lots of wildlife.  Our Lulu dog loved all the squirrels.  Of course she wanted to kill them all.  Luckily for them, she is pretty slow.  She is 8 years old now. All we have to do is make a squirrel sound to get her excited.  She is very funny. People are supposed to leash their dogs in the campgrounds we manage.  Often they don't bother.  Lulu is our enforcer.  One time a dog ran out of a campsite snarling and growling while I was trying to hang the tag that shows the site as paid. Lulu is always on her leash when other campers are around.  This dog ran past me, and right for Lulu. Old Freek tried to use his walking stick to keep the dog away, but it was to fast.  She bit it.  I warned the owners that they need to keep their dog within their campsite.  I also told them that we'd be around early in the morning.  By the time we made the next mornings rounds, these campers were gone.  Good riddance. In some circumstances leashes can keep your dog safe from other dogs (like Lulu). The nicest dog can be protected by being on a leash. Anyway.

Business was actually slower than usuall last summer. They let the water out of Blue River Resevoir early in the season, so little money was made by way of day use fees.  Cougar Resevoir emptied early also, but people were able to launch their boats throughout most of the summer season.

I'll post some pics next time I'm online. It's a beautiful place.

Lost our Rosie cat to diabetes last night.  She went too fast to suffer much.  We will miss her.  She caught the mice who invaded our RV.  She suggled by my side every morning when I drank my morning coffee.  I could clip her nails, comb her fur, treat her wounds without her fighting at all.  She was gentle, loving, not too bright, stinky too, but we loved her and will miss her.

Here's a photo of the mess the big bear made right next to our RV.
Bears sure can be messy.  Later he bent the lid in half like peeling back the lid off a can of oysters.  He probably weighed around 300 lbs.

Last week we celebrated both of our birthdays and our wedding anniversery.  Here's a pic of me cleaning toilets on my birthday.

This one is at a campground named Cougar Crossing.  It's pretty but it is not the favorite of our campgrounds (we're responsible for 11).  My favorite is Frissell Crossing.  Here's a picture.

It's been rainin', rainin', rainin' here.  It has finally stopped and we saw some sun a couple of times today.

Bear Wars

Nya nya nya
I don't think that I'll ever get caught up with my posts.  Anyway...  We started working on May 17th.  Along about that time we started getting visits from a very quiet and sneaky bear.  She was not so big.  We'd be in bed and I would wake up to the sound of trash being pulled carefully and quietly out of the dumpsters across the road from our campsite.  Of course, Lulu heard her too and would growl which was louder than the bear and almost more annoying.  Old Freek would get out of bed, go outside and scare her away by yelling and waving his arms.  We're talking Black Bears here which and much mellower than Grizzly Bears and easier to deal with.  I don't think there are any Grizzlies in this area.  So, this happened for about three nights in a row.  The first time she came in the middle of the night, the next in the early morning, and the third night it was nearer dusk.  After being chased away she almost always came back.  We had to pick up the garbage and put it back into the dumpster every morning before beginning our rounds.  The forth night she came early in the evening, just after dark.  We chased her off and went to sleep.  Near dawn we heard a bear in the garbage again.  This time we heard a crash.  It had tipped the dumpster completely over.  The next morning I had to have help to pick the dumpster up.  It was our day off and the guys that covered for us tied down the lid to one of the fullest dumpsters to keep the bear out of it.  We discovered that the bear had performed vivisection on our charcoal bag and the door of our storage tent.  We figured that this second bear was a male bear and was challanging our encroachment into his territory.  The next day we had to go to a job orientation and were told to buy some amonia and put it into the dumpsters, and around our tent.  Old Freek put amonia into a spray bottle and sprayed it around.  That night we heard the bear out by the dumpster.  We crept outside with our flashlight, snuck out next to the truck where we waited for the bear to come closer.  Suddenly, I flashed the light.  There he was, with thick dark red brown fur, noncholantly strolling across the road.  He seemed to ignore us completely.  He walked with a self-confidant rolling gait until he crossed to our side of the road.  Then he trotted off into the woods surrounding our campsite.  We went back into our 5th wheel.  Now, I had left a full bottle of amonia [it was still sealed] sitting on the end of our picnic table.  We're sittin' in our trailer and Lulu begins growling again.  The bear's in our campsite.  Old Freek and I creep down our steps in the dark then flash the light to find the bear standing at the end of our picnic table, a paw on either side of that bottle of amonia.  He just stood on his hind feet there and stared at us in chalange.  It seemed like a long time, but it was probably only a minute or two.  He had to stand at around 5 foot 5 inches tall.  He looked shiny and healthy and altogether magnificent.  Old Freek had to rush at his while yelling to scare him away.  We poured more amonia into the dumpsters.  Memorial Day weekend came with its campers and we haven't been bothered by the bears since.  We truly love the bears, but they were very messy and kept us awake when we were working long days learning our new job.  Oh!  I forgot.  I steped in bear poop twice while cleaning up their messes.  The first time I was wearing sandles.  That stuff is really wet and cold.  Eeeeeeeewwwwww!
Update on our Route Driving job.  We love it!

We Made it to Oregon

Well we made it to Oregon.  First we camped near my parents place and I went for a visit.  Here's a picture of my mom and her horse, Joey.  He'll be 21 years old this year.  That's old for a horse.

Joey loves to eat.  Mom has to watch his diet all of the time.  They have a huge German Shepherd named Timmy who likes to sing.  I got this great pic of him singin' in the house.
Timmy weighs 140 lbs.  My parents correct him with a 2x4.  He's very sweet and very funny.  Right now he is also very wooley.  We watched the Kentucky Derby together on Saturday the 5th, an early Mother's Day celebration.

We arrived at Delta Campground near Blue River, OR last Monday.  We had to park our 5th wheel catywompus for the first couple of days until a firewood box got pushed out of our way.  It had been left right in the middle of our pull though.  I get cell phone reception here much to my delight and I can also go online.  It is very pretty here and I fell like I am camping in a jungle.  Here's a photo of our site before the firewood box got moved.

This last pic is taken today of our much improved set up.  I put the tent up all by myself.  This is the view from our campfire towards our 5th wheel.  We think that we'll be having a great time working here this summer.

We made it to Zion Natl Park

We found a free camping place near Rockville, UT.  It's called Mosquito Flat.  The ground is mostly soft sand and it has been raining off and on since yesterday.  The wetter it gets the firmer the sand is, so far anyway.

This is the Zion Arch.  It's actually an arch in the making.  You see it when you approach the tunnel from within the park.  We took the photo on our way though the park on the 19th on our way to the Coral Sandunes.                               We think these dunes are really awesome.  Lulu had a wonderful time romping around.  She ran a lot which is remarkable because she is a very lazy person.  After we played on the dunes, we drove up to Bryce Canyon.  It is so wonderful there.  The forms of rock that look like human figures are called Hoodoos.
We're going into Zion on the shuttle on Tuesday probably.  It's supposed to rain more tomorrow.  We both look forward to it, but just don't want to go in the rain.

Hooray! We're out of Yuma

We'll it was after 5:00pm but we finally left the Imperial Dam area near Yuma, AZ.  We left on Friday the 13th and spent the first night parked next to the Salt River north of Mesa, AZ.  On Saturday we went to the house of some friends who live in Fountain Hills, AZ.  They have a very large 3 bedroom house that has tile floors and very high ceilings.  Here's a picture from the backyard beyond the pool.
The cats are staying in our 5th wheel which is parked at another house our friends own in this area.  It's not quite as large and fancy, but the pool is bigger and the backyard has more privacy.  Lulu gets to stay with us.  She's been a very good girl.

Today we took a drive out to Canyon Lake and Tortilla Flats.  We cruised through the campground there where I took a picture of some blooming staghorn cactus.  Very beautiful.  Lots of the cacti were blooming.  This picture shows a suguaro cactus.  Suguaro is pronounced [soo-war-ooh].  They live very long lives and grow very large.  They look hile weird human forms sometimes.                   They are fascinating.

Tomorrow we head north towards Zion Natl Park.  We'll probably get another late start.  We're looking forward to it.
